A Past Remembered
Me, before you
Vulnerable and afraid
Hoping against all
odds
You did not want my
soul in trade.
Me, before you
Stripped down without
pride
Knowing your baser
instincts you now take in stride.
Take a long look,
For as today
I am free, free of
your abuse and continued cruelty.
Take a good look,
For you will no longer
see
Me, before you
Trembling in your
hypocrisy.
Today, I am free!
Finding my wings to
fly far, far away
To become the real…the
authentic me.
Soon, very soon
It will be,
Me, before you,
Full of grace and
majesty.
